This spacious 4,000 square foot home designed by renowned architect Matthew Falkiner of Simplemente Madera. Forest and Surf Villa is perched on a hillside surrounded by trees and wildlife, with stunning views of the forest valleys and Pacific Ocean. Sounds of the waves from three nearby beaches can be heard from the bedrooms and living spaces harmonizing with sounds from birds and howler monkeys. It can accommodate ideally 3 couples with a spare room for children or larger groups or families wanting peace and lots of space to get lost in and relax.
Nearby Town and Beaches
15 minutes north of San Juan del Sur, close enough to drive down to shop for a few amenities, chat with the local surfers or go to a restaurant or bar for some live music and eats but far enough to retreat from all that hustle and bustle.
If however, you and your friends are here for a surfing adventure, you will be glad to know that you can stash your boards on your truck or ATV and drive down from the house to Playa Playones in 3 minutes.
Park the car and walk 5 minutes south to Playa Maderas. The owner of Forest and Surf Villa likes to walk to Maderas with his board from the house, taking him about 20 minutes. Playa Remanso, breaks on sand, excellent for beginners is about a 35 minute drive. Playa Yankee and other surfing beaches are a bit further off.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Adelante Express, Iskra Travel, Paxeos and
Big Wave Daves are some companies that offer regularly scheduled air-conditioned tourist shuttle service from Managua International Airport to San Juan del Sur. If you are coming from the Costa Rican border of Peёas Blancas, it is a mere 30 kilometer trip into San Juan del Sur and a taxi should only cost $20
We can arrange a private airport pick-up for up to 5 people from Managua airport straight to Forest and Surf Villa for $100 one way, this includes a stop-over at PALI convenience store in San Juan del Sur town so you can stock up on groceries and amenities.
For $55 a day or $350 a week you can rent a classic Toyota cruiser from San Juan del Sur town or a pick-up for $800 a week.
You can also hire ATVs/Quads in town for 1 hour/ half day or a full day.
An AWD or 4x4 vehicle is required to gain admittance to Balcones at Majagual.
Each rental party must have an AWD or 4x4 vehicle, and a high-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended.
The guard at the entrance will confirm that your vehicle is in 4WD and that manual hubs are locked,
before you will be allowed to drive into our community. The requirement for an AWD or 4x4 vehicle is for your protection on our ungroomed dirt roads
and helps prevents damage to our roads. Keeping costs of road maintenance low, helps assure our rental rates remain affordable.
Nicaragua has regular seasons of rainy and dry weather.
During dry season (usually mid- November through mid-May) a high-clearance vehicle is recommended to travel most comfortably on the coastal road north
and south of San Juan del Sur. During rainy season (usually mid-May through mid-November),
4WD vehicles with high clearance are highly recommended and may be required to navigate coastal roads north and south of San Juan del Sur,
ford small rivers without bridges, as well as drive to Playa Marsella and Playa Maderas surf beach.

Kitchen and Dining
The kitchen is fully equipped including fridge, coffee maker, microwave, oven, blender and toaster. Tableware and silverware enough for 8 people. Cook service is available for $10 a day. You can either explore the market and shops in town to buy food and ingredients that your cook will prepare or you can let your cook do it for you.
Non-vegetarians might want to arrange a fishing trip and cook fresh fish at home. Contact us to help you charter a boat.
Safety and Security
Parking is available with security 24 hour security. Your security man is also equipped with a two way radio that links him to the property supervisor should you have any questions about the house, the town or if you need assistance with additional services.
Internet and Other Amenities
The house has wi-fi through-out but please be patient as it won't be as fast as what we are used to in Europe and America. A telephone and desk computer are available for guests, and comes in handy for arranging tours with local guides in town or skyping friends and family back home. The house is also equipped with back-up power powered by batteries, so can continue a tranquil holiday without noise from generators.
